Setting Goals…Stressful or Empowering?

Here it is February, the 2nd month of 2018.  Who made goals for the New Year? When was the last time you gave your goal some attention?  Or has the goal already found its way to the dark, back corner of the closet? Or perhaps you have given up on the whole all together believing it is for those other people.

Goals ignite the power within us to do great exciting things. They are the pathway to our greatest desires, dreams, and aspirations.  Goals transform us and  stretch us beyond what we thought was possible.

However, for many of us, setting goals have become the mundane to do lists.  We can hardly give ourselves permission for  outrageous goals and many become extinguished  by our current filters ( of beliefs, experiences, feelings, )and / or opinions from friends, family and those close to us.   This is enough fuel for  the monster like dark cloud to sabotage the whole thing.  We experience this  enough times we resist dreaming settling for the status quo because it is much to uncomfortable  to stretch that much.  And we end up convincing ourselves why bother it will never happen anyway.  If this is not you then perhaps you have witnessed this with someone you know?

For example the idea of having to start all over from square one finding a new job, or retooling, reinventing after years of patterns deeply pressed into our psyche, the foundation of who we are.  Or as simple as asking for a raise, stating our value, setting a boundary.  Best not to rock the boat…why fix what is not broken? This thinking completely sets the stage for low level goal aspiration.  No wonder when asked to set goals it falls on deaf ears.

The flip side of goal setting inspires us to do whatever it takes, we become fearless with a strong mind set to overcome all obstacles.  There is enough ammunition that fuels the need for change,to do or become something else….A situation, passion, desire is so ignited that you are unstoppable.  What would that look like  for you? How could you connect to that outcome to sustain you and carry you over the hurdles?

Often it is the WHY  attached to the goal. When we attach to a powerful and strong WHY it is the fuel for the goals.  What is your WHY? How does it support you? Did you think to craft a WHY? Where can you draw inspiration?

Certainly, we can reference many great inspirational stories and movies to this effect. Is there one that comes to mind for you?  Mine is “#A Beautiful Mind” starring #Russel Crow and all time favorite “#Alice Behind the Looking Glass” – (“tackle six impossible things before breakfast”).

It has taken some serious agility and mind strength training to embrace goal setting and reduce my stress response around the process.  For me goals are now the gateways to my manifesting my WHY.  Our WHY is the center of our  deepest desires. You do not need to know the hows.  You need to show up, ready, fully present, and declare yourself.  In this declaration is the commitment and ownership to become fully empowered over your own destiny, aspirations, dreams, life passion.   One of the elements in goal setting is to declare to others so that you can receive the support and line up  with the how to and receive the miracles along the way.  So today February 8th 2018 lets declare restating our goals: Share one of yours in the comment section below:

Here is one of mine: Cultivate a lifestyle that allows me to travel, partake in adventures, meet and be with people of diverse culture without the worry, anxiety. To stand in my full courage to claim my worth and value to earn the kind of money that provides the freedom to live fully.

Share yours now:

If you are looking to break through your glass ceiling, step into your full empowerment, as a person of influence I invite you to connect with me to uncover blocks to being unstoppable.
